Our Story

The Vendors Were the Heart of It

We built this site because we missed them — and we knew their customers were looking for them too.

Why We Built This

More Than Shopping. It Was Connection.

What my wife and I always loved most was not just the shopping, but the vendors themselves. Every booth felt like meeting someone through the things they created, collected, restored, or carefully selected. You could feel the personality, effort, and pride behind each space.

We always found something unique for ourselves or a special gift for our grandchildren, but what made it meaningful was knowing it came from a real person building something of their own. These were makers, dreamers, small business owners, and hardworking people sharing their talent with the community.

The vendors were the heart of the experience. They brought creativity, character, and warmth that you simply cannot find in ordinary retail. Supporting them always felt good, and discovering their work made every visit worthwhile.

What Happened

A Beloved Boutique. A Sudden Closure.

Painted Tree Boutique was more than a store — it was a marketplace where hundreds of independent creators, makers, and small business owners built their livelihoods. Customers came from across Middle Tennessee to discover handmade jewelry, artisan candles, one-of-a-kind home decor, and so much more.

When the boutique closed, vendors were left scrambling. Many had invested years building their booths, their customer bases, and their brands within those walls. Overnight, they needed to find new homes — and their loyal customers had no way to find them.

Painted Tree Refugees was created to bridge that gap. It's a free, community-maintained directory where former vendors can share their new locations, online shops, and upcoming pop-ups — and where customers can find the makers they love.

What We Stand For

Our Values

Community First

This site exists because of the community. Every decision we make is in service of the vendors and customers who made Painted Tree special.

Free & Open

Listing your business here is completely free. We believe in removing barriers for small business owners, not adding them.

Always Updating

As vendors find new homes, we update the directory. This is a living resource, not a static page.

Locally Rooted

We're focused on the Middle Tennessee community, but we welcome vendors who've moved online or relocated.

Are you a former Painted Tree vendor?
